I've just been told that the laprop that I ordered may come with a DVD drive instead of the Blu-ray drive that was in the brochure. To be fair, they have upgraded the processor and doubled the video card memory as well. The salesgirl promised to confirm for sure by tomorrow.

Question of the day is... should I try a hissy fit if the Blu-ray ia downgraded?

This is the first day I haven't been in the shop for longer than I can remember. Go me!! Downside is that I've been told that I have major crap to deal with tomorrow. Ah well...

I've been doing a Star Trek marathon today starting from Star Trek I. I've always liked the orignal series' characters back but watching the first movie after all this time just reminds me of how simple movie-making was back then. You could just about make out the strings on the Enterprise flying in space. Heh.

Doesn't mean Trek doesn't kick ass. Love the even numbered one *bg*

Been away for too long and it's because I'm a big slacker. L will testify to that and I thank all the powers that be that she puts up with me this far. Must have done something good in the past, heh.

So where have I been hiding all this while? Let's see...one of my assistants left and I've been buried deep in work and getting stressed out about making things work as usual, boss-man has been on my ass about sales and how crappy they are at the moment and most importantly, I'll be 6.5k miles away from my wife on her birthday.

The only bright spark on the horizon right now is that we'll be together in about a month but it's still too long. Why haven't they invented transporters yet??!!

I promised myself that I wouldn't do the bitch and moan routine about work tonight so I'll talk about random TV shows instead. So, is there anyone else around who's watching 30 Rock? What...? It's funny, in an inane sorta way *and* it's got Stephanie March playing a lesbian in one of the eps. What else does a shallow viewer need?

And oh, the glasses of P&J make a guest appearance as well. You know, just in case some of you need convincing to go watch the eps here. L and I got into an interesting conversation last night that had me thinking about the chicken and egg scenario of sexuality. At the risk of oversimplification - is being only attracted to women the same as not finding men attractive? Personally, the aspect which captures my attention and eventually attraction to a person is first and foremost, a meeting of hearts, then a meeting of minds and finally the physical connection. Perhaps this makes me an accidental lesbian because the ability to turn a straight woman gay apparently only exists in a fanfic writer's fantasy *g*.

No, I've never turned anyone straight or otherwise nor have I specifically sought out women only for the sake of upholding a definition. So either all the men I know just happen to be pricks or L is right and they are pricks to me because I'm biologically programmed to be a big ol' dyke. Am I odd?

This one's specially for all you girls out there who wear contact lenses and think it's a laugh to toss advice about replacement schedules and wearing time out the window. See, as flexible and forgiving as the human anatomy may be, once an injury to the cornea goes beyond the basement membrane, it'a a permanent
scar. Think of it as a scratch in a camera lens that can't be replaced.

1)Breakfast with mum because she had half the day off from work.

2)Stopped by the bank to hand in something for the flat thinking it'd take fifteen minutes at most only to have to wait for almost an hour. I don;t know anything about running a bank but having only two staff working over lunch hour on the second working day of the month? Not a good idea unless you want a bunch of pissed off customers.

3)Whoever it was who called my mobile from a withheld number? Please don't. I make no apologies for not answering especially since the subsequent voice mail was just some background noise before you hung up. Yes, I'm rude and paranoid like that.

4)Shopping for techy-geeky stuff. My favourite kind of shopping even if it wasn't completely successful. Two hours and all I have to show is a cover for my new phone and it isn't even what I was really looking for. At least I managed to get the sim card upgraded.

5)Post for me from wonkots42 *does happy excited dance* Thank you honey :-*

6)KFC for dinner because it's the only kind of fast food mum eats and we all felt like having our arteries clogged today. Hot
and spicy...yummm *g*

7)In the process of making this list and enjoying a great bottle of Shiraz I've had lying around for a while. Not sure if this'll ring any bells but just for the record, the Henschke Mount Edelstone 1997 rocks.

8)Found out that I finally got paid today and it seems to be more than I expected it to be. Hmmm.../sceptical frown/
